Governor Umaru Ya’adua of Katsina State in his ever yearning to transform the state positively, has recently inaugurated a committee that will determine the course to attaining economic development in the state.

The committee has a renowned Economist as the Chairman . He is  Alhaji Abidu Yazidu Rafindadi. The secretary to the  state government, Alhaji Abba Sayyadi Ruma would serve as secretary.

Below is the full text of His Excellency Alh. Umaru Musa Yar'adua's Good will Message while inaugurating the Development Summit.

On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, I wholeheartedly welcome all our disinguished invited guests to the Katsina State Development summit. This initiative, holding in the historic city of Katsina, between 12th  and 14th of March, 2006, has indeed come at the most auspicious moment of our history.

Our thanks and praises go to the Almighty Allah(SWT), in Whose benevolence, mercy and wisdom, we gather to brainstorm and chart a way forward for Katsina State's economic and social development. We are indeed grateful for the effort of all who have contributed towards convening the Summit. We hope for a successful and rewarding outcome, and pray that it will impact positively on the development of our State.

The People of Katsina State take this initiative of fashioning a vision for the State very seriously. It is on this consideration that the State Government has now made the exercise the cornerstone of its development programme. We, therefore, eagerly await the outcome of the summit, confident that it will bequeath to the generation yet unborn, a solid, vibrant, economically viable and self reliant Katsina State. Please, feel at home while you are in Katsina, and also endeavour to contribute meaningfully to the proceedings of the Summit.
